The third and fourth rounds of the Ginetta G50 Championship were held at Cadwell Park, Lincolnshire, on 5 and 6 April 2008, and our very own Professional MotorSport World Expo driver Clive Richards qualified on the second row of the grid.
After a good start and defending throughout most of the race, the ex-Caterham champion lost third place to Paul O’Neill, who muscled down the inside of Richards just five corners from the checkered flag.
The outcome of the second race was very much influenced by the weather, with a damp track and even the threat of snow making setup choices critical. Ultimately, Richards excelled in the conditions, maintaining a consistent, rapid pace to come home third, celebrating with his fist in the air.
A delighted Richards said, “That was one of the toughest races I’ve ever competed in. Cars were falling off the track all over the place – it was hard enough not to spin off myself, let alone avoid them. Third place this weekend demonstrates that we’re really starting to get to grips with this new car.” |
