Sportech Engineering will exhibit a new, compact electrohydraulic power steering unit. The 4.5kW pump weighs less than 4kg, resulting in an excellent power-to-weight ratio. It can be driven as a standalone accessory or hooked up to the car’s CAN network for perfect integration into the vehicle’s existing electronics. It can then be set up through a user-friendly interface that allows users to map motor profiles to specific conditions.

The four-quadrant 48V DC motor with fully integrated control electronics can drive a wide range of pumps, making the whole system suitable for the demanding conditions of a rally stage or rallycross event. Being an electrohydraulic system, Sportech Engineering’s power steering unit is ideal for use in electric vehicles that nevertheless require the steering feedback of a hydraulic rack.
