Lithium-ion batteries aren’t just for laptops and EVs – they can also greatly contribute to reducing weight in conventionally powered vehicles when used as starter batteries. Australian company Lithiumax offers its high-performance lightweight LiFePO4 batteries in three power levels, to get track cars as well as road cars started every time. At the lower end of the range, the SILOS weighs only 1.8kg, but puts out 500A for cranking. The top-of-the-line MEDOS weighs 3.5kg and puts out 900A.

Lithiumax uses lithium mined in Australia for A-grade cells with high temperature stability and low weight. Its intelligent battery management system (BMS) regulates the charging and discharging process to guarantee a constant charging rate and to avoid overloading and deep cycling. This way, the cells will last a long time.
