Building on the success of the four-point mounted MD10 seat and six-point mounted MD20 seat, motordrive has developed a new concept seat that it will show for the first time at PMW Expo 2019. The MD30 prototype uses motordrive’s infusion process, which allows for a striking design with a smooth inner and outer finished shell. The result is a lightweight seat that can be individually tailored for all shapes and sizes of driver and co-driver by way of adjustable cushion pads.
The ergonomic design incorporates new features to ensure maximum safety and comfort. These enhancements include lumbar support to protect the spine against high-compression-impact accidents, improved head and neck ergonomics to work with HANS systems, and a lower seat base, which allows more leg movement when used with motordrive’s custom-fit base bolsters.
The company will also showcase its recently-introduced six-point mounted FIA8862 seat. Motordrive claims its MD20 is the industry’s lightest six-point mounted FIA 8862-2009 seat, thanks to the ultra-lightweight 7.5kg carbon shell. It also scores with energy-absorbing foam and the option of personal branding, making it appeal to teams and drivers alike.
The six-point MD20 joins the four-point MD10 to make Motordrive the only manufacturer to offer both types of seats with FIA8862-2009 approval for both race and rally. The company manufactures all its seats in the UK with custom fitting, personal branding and with a competitive price tag. If required, Motordrive can also offer personalized solutions.
