Flags are so last century, so Darren Conway of New Zealand designed an alternative to having to find volunteers to wave racing flags. Mímirbox is an electronic signaling system for motorsport that places ultra-bright, full-color RGB LED panels where there would normally be flags. These lights can be controlled both centrally and individually to display standard racing flags, but also text, lap counts, sponsor logos and more. The displays are self-contained, wireless, portable, and fully programmable. The company says its system reduces the workload of race officials, improves track safety, and provides a better race experience for the drivers.
