A year after entering the market, Bcomp’s powerRibs and ampliTex flax-based sustainable lightweighting technologies are racing with a range of brands and series. PowerRibs is a natural fiber composite reinforcement grid inspired by leaf veins, which provides a thin-walled shell element – such as a roof panel – with stiffness at a minimal weight.

Bcomp says its proprietary solution has significant benefits in cost, performance, safety and environmental aspects compared with carbon fiber. As such, it received several awards in motorsport last year and is currently being used by Optimum motorsport on its Aston Martin Vantages.
